Backstage with Ollie Clarke

Joining us on this week’s “Backstage With” Q&A is Bristol Rovers captain, Ollie Clarke. Born in Bristol, the central midfielder joined Bristol Rovers as a youth and is the club’s longest-serving player. Ahead of the 2019/20 campaign, Clarke was named Club Captain, and has been a constant feature of the Rovers side. Last week, Ollie announced he is leaving Bristol Rovers, after winning two promotions and playing 250 games during his time with the club. Here Ollie shares with us his gig memories, why he’s excited for his hometown to finally have an arena, and more!

First gig, last gig, fav gig?

What does it mean to you for Bristol to finally have an indoor live entertainment arena?

I think it’s massive for Bristol to have a proper music venue to attract bigger and better artists.

Which artist/band/performer would you like to see perform at YTL Arena Bristol (...and why!)

Drake, because the shows he was doing in other good venues around the country looked unbelievable and I’d like to see that on my doorstep.

What do you love most about Bristol?

Love everything about Bristol.

Does music inspire your career at all?

Music helps motivate me before games and training.

What do you listen to when training?

Anything with a good beat to keep me motivated.

Can you name a song that can instantly boost your mood? (and why)

Sweet Caroline because it always reminds me of good times with friends and someone trying to give it a go on the karaoke!
